My husband, Ryan, and I moved to Jackson with our children in 2012. Ryan grew up in Jackson and graduated in 1992. We lived in Waconia, MN for a couple years after getting married but quickly decided it was not the place for us. We moved here to raise our children in this rural conservative area, the place we call home. This fall, Jack will be in 9th grade and Alida 8th grade.
I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of MN in 1997. Most of my nursing career has been in the clinical research arena. Since 2016, I have worked at Sanford Jackson Medical Center as a Clinical Quality Specialist focusing on quality assurance and performance improvement.
I am passionate about seeing change and cultivating common sense principles within the Jackson County Central School District.
My values and beliefs are conservative in nature. I will use this as my guide in making decisions as a School Board member. I firmly believe we can make a lasting difference for the future of our Jackson County Central School District students.
Betty’s School Board Platform
Leading with and cultivating common sense focuses on four key areas:
- Stay informed – Understanding and being aware of the world around you.
- Learn from Experience – Reflect on what went well and what didn’t can guide future actions.
- Develop Empathy – Understanding others’ perspectives can help in making sound and fair decisions.
- Think Practically – Stick to simplicity and avoid the complicated when possible.
My Priorities
- Quality – We must provide our children with the highest quality of education and remove the distractions.
- Parents – We must support and encourage parental engagement by building trust through transparency.
- Teachers – We must provide support to our teachers so we can retain our quality educators.
- Guidance – We must help our children find career paths that lead to lifelong societal contribution and prosperity.
- Accountability – We must ensure that money is spent wisely and efficiently, keeping the education of our children first and foremost.
